Our Green Contribution to the Oil Spill Clean Up Effort 
To help with the oil spill cleanup, Salon Escape is donating hair clippings to Green Circle Salons. The collected hair is made into hair mats used for cleaning up oil spills. Using these mats for oil spills not only reduces amount of hair in landfills, but also reduces hazardous cleanup methods using chemicals. Human hair is very efficient at collecting oil because it does not absorb the oil, instead the oil sticks to the hair surface so the mats can be wrung out and reused. Starting April 1st , 2010 Salon Escape will become a "Green Salon" and reduce our eco-footprint. There will be a charge to clients of 50 cents per visit and this fee enables us to give you a healthier, greener and smarter salon! We will contribute towards purifying water, recycling hair, plastic, colour tubes and foils, as well as energy efficiency. Robert Barbosa was awarded the title of Ontario Hairstylist of the year and Shane Snow was awarded the title of Texture Stylist of the Year.
